Maple is the geographic centre of Vaughan and the community that grew fastest through the 1990s and 2000s. The old village core is at Keele and Major Mackenzie; around it, subdivisions of detached and semi-detached homes stretch from Teston Road down to Rutherford, with townhomes filling the newer phases near the GO station.

Two stations on the Barrie GO line, Maple and Rutherford, give commuters a direct train to Union. Highway 400 is on the western edge, Canada’s Wonderland is the local landmark, and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, opened in 2021, is on Major Mackenzie Drive.
