Halton is the west end of the GTA, between Mississauga and Hamilton. Oakville and Burlington sit on Lake Ontario with harbours, waterfront parks and some of the region’s most expensive homes; Milton and Halton Hills climb the Niagara Escarpment behind them. Halton’s public schools rank at or near the top of the province year after year, which drives much of the demand.

The Lakeshore West GO line runs through Oakville and Burlington with frequent service; the Milton line serves the north. The QEW, 403, 407 and 401 cover driving in every direction.

Why people choose Halton Region

  • Lakefront estates, established family streets, newer subdivisions in north Oakville and Milton
  • Lakeshore West GO: frequent all-day trains to Union
  • Bronte Creek, Kelso, Rattlesnake Point, the Royal Botanical Gardens
  • Consistently high-ranked Halton public schools
